First interactive moment! Big thanks to my readers!

When I started doing this webcomic I knew from the start that I want to give all readers the opportunity to directly influence the story. Silence Wanderers is interactive in a way that readers will be able to cast a vote in almost every episode to decide what happens next. In episode 2, on page 15 we had first moment like that.

How does this feature actually works and how great impact can it already have on my already written scripts?
I have fully prepared first 6 episodes, with all interactive checkpoints marked. I did not go in length to write two non-linear version of story if readers decide something opposite to my scripts. I count on the readers to make the right choice. On this first interactive moment my faith was rewarded.

In script young Native American runs away. If the readers chose FIGHT, the impact would be huge. Our Native American character, about who we don’t know much not even his name (you’ll get to know him really good very soon), would draw the revolver tucked onto his belt and change fire with officer aiming at him. He has 6 bullets against 15 and he has to draw really fast. Odds were not in his favor. He would get wounded and he would miss the officer and hit one of the guys standing behind the officer. Although the man would survive the gunshot wound, Native American character would have to live with the belief that he DID kill a man. That consequence would tear him apart.

I know that Fight is always more fun then Flight, but all decisions have their consequences, I’m glad that you did not put already troubled young man into even more trouble. :)

Until next page, cheers!
Ivan

webcomic Lineart and Coloring time-lapse

I always felt so inspired while watching other artists comic Lineart and Coloring time-lapse’s. While I am working on a page 8 of current second episode I decided that I would like to share with you all my process of doing those things.

Some previously drawn pages I created traditionally on paper to be scanned into digital format. However, soon I realized that I want more control on the lines. Example would be if I would like to achieve aerial perspective I would need to clean the line, cut it into separate layer and stuff to be sure that the line follows washed away colors around it. Big advantage with doing lineart digitally is that I can do whatever I want and while doing that I can also make mistakes.

For drawing comic lineart I strongly suggest SmithMicro’s Manga Studio 5 – for very acceptable price you get your paws on a software that is simply amazing for lineart. I adore the level of control over lineart that the software offers me. It is so clean, yet so alive! Check it out.

As for coloring, I am still loyal to my first love – Adobe’s Photoshop. I have tons of brushes but 90% of the time I use only around 5-7 brushes.

The videos that you watch were made by Open Broadcaster Software – an amazing tool for recording your screen and live streaming. This software is freaking awesome and most of all – it is free! Several days ago Silence Wanderers went online on Twitch TV! Updates on when I am live are posted Twitter and Facebook. For now no schedule is available, but that will change in time.

Dugo i polako. Ja sam prakticki tek sad poceo graditi onako kako spada.

Promotion on the Balkans festival of young comics creators

Hi guys!

(Page 3 of episode 1 is now fully completed)

I am happy to announce that Silence Wanderers had great promotion on Balkans festival of young comics creators in Leskovac, Serbia! I would like to thank Marko Stojanović, Miloš Cvetković and Ivan Stojanović for the opportunity and wonderful time.

It is soon to be one month since the launch, I am still trying to devote more time to the comic. As I am writing these words, I am struggling with the sound of collapsing walls in the room next to me.  It’s hard when you are trying to re-decorate your apartment and finish a big project that you are working on to find time to give your best to your passions. Regardless to that, yesterday we had our 10.000 visitor! Many thanks from Marko and from me! You guys rock!

Stay tuned for this Saturday‘s pages – it’s action time!
